 All praises be to Allah the almighty, the most merciful and beneficent. I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the last messenger and servant of Allah. On this bright day, let me show my happiness and gratitude for welcoming you all as students of A-Rohmah Islamic Boarding School. Having succeeded on a long-running test to enter this boarding school, it is worthed for you to be granted as new students of Ar- Rohmah Islamic Boarding School.

 

Your choice is absolutely right because Ar- Rohmah Islamic Boarding School upfront the ultimate and modern education system. Such are we provided:

1. Comparable with International education standard requirements.

As it published in the International education journal, students must have integrity, independence, skills, relationship, and moral values. Hence, we meet that requirement by doing some approaching to our syllabus, teaching role-play, including that we do some synchronize on our semester and yearly program such as; developing teaching plans, conducting the teaching practices of sixth grade toward their lower graders, making cadres, establishing students’ roadshow (panggung gembira pelajar). For the skills aspect, we have provided the skills education programs such as; welding, agriculture, and farming.

2.            Independency 

Reflecting on Gontor education emphasis, we do seriously emphasize the independence of students in all courses. In a nutshell, starting from they sleep until they sleep again. We teach on HOW TO not WHAT IS. Because “what is” is in an observing field, while “how-to” is two or three steps over. It is on a hypothetical field. The “How to” formula is upfronting the “way”. This gives birth to independency, especially in boarding school day life. Way to feel strong and tolerate the situation for obviously different with their home (not what to feel strong and tolerate concerning to that), way to study hard (not what to study), way to give respect, way to do self-managing, way to manage others, way to carry out plan become realm, and there are still many of them. We teach the independency aspect because it will benefit them when they are meeting real life.

3.            Relationship

Ar-Rohmah Islamic Boarding School puts forward teaching on how to make relationships with others and their circumstance. We give space for them to cooperate in doing particular plans, strengthen friendships by doing some cross-groups (marhallah) championships, by do some problem solving together. 

4.            Moral values

Education is the most important factor, which trains students toward social practices and moral ethics. Ar-Rohmah Islamic Boarding School inserts moral values each in every step of the teaching and learning for the students constantly. We keep working on establishing:

a.            Respect

Respect to time. How they will manage the time while they are in boarding. Time for praying, time for study, time for cleaning, either body or their clothes, and time for engaging in all tasks. 

Respect for others. Including spreading “salam”. Establishing cooperative learning. Seniority embedding in order to maintain students' obedience.

b.    Positive behavior

In this case, we develop; Caring ( desire to help others), Compassionate ( to feel or show sympathy for others), encouragement (able to give encouragement to others when they get problems)

5. Spiritual enforcement 

Ar-Rohmah Islamic Boarding School keeps trying to become a bridge between parents' eagerness and the institution's capability. Parents want their sons/daughters to meet successful both spiritual and cognitive skills. We are making them our high priority to make it happen. We start from spiritual enforcement because it is so important to be done. What we have been doing them are such as:

1.    Establish regular praying ( five times shalah).

This is not trivial. Five times shalah is very important. We always train our students to establish it within-group (berjama’ah). Proving by two big mosques that we have built. 

2.            Al-Qur’an memorizing course

Alhamdulillah this year we have built a special course for memorizing Al-Qur’an. In this case we have brought in special teachers from the Middle East.

3.            Amphasize on Islamic religion knowledge

It is for sure that we always put the right man in the right place. It means that we put good quality and proficient teachers in this field.

 

For all students,

We would like to give you advice; 

1. Keep good manners and politeness In the boarding. 
2. Always keep respect for your parents
3. Never forget the teachers that taught you when you were in elementary school.
4. Do not disobey your parent’s orders.
5. Establish a good attitude, discipline, and obey the boarding rules.
6. Don't be a stranger in here, in your own country, and in your own home.
7. Never stop learning everything that will drive you to a good quality of life.

 

In closing my speech, it is wise for us to reflect to this Ayat, in Surah Al-Mujadilah, verse: 11 as bellow:

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِذَا قِيۡلَ لَـكُمۡ تَفَسَّحُوۡا فِى الۡمَجٰلِسِ فَافۡسَحُوۡا يَفۡسَحِ اللّٰهُ لَـكُمۡ‌ ۚ وَاِذَا قِيۡلَ انْشُزُوۡا فَانْشُزُوۡا يَرۡفَعِ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنۡكُمۡ ۙ وَالَّذِيۡنَ 

اُوۡتُوا الۡعِلۡمَ دَرَجٰتٍ ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ خَبِيۡ

 

O you who believe! If it is said to you, "Give spaciousness in the assemblies," then expand it, surely Allah will provide spaciousness for you. And when it is said, "Stand up," then stand up, Allah will raise (degrees) those who believe among you and those who are given knowledge by several degrees. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do. (Surah [58] Al-Mujadilah, verse:11)

 

I hope you can study in this boarding as well. And you can apply what you got to your real life. May Allah Subhanahu wata’ala expand our time to bring success in the world and hereafter.
